| When the images finally load, you should see a hand caressing a gal's silken leg. To experience this tactile illusion, place your actual hand on a silky-textured surface. (Some mouse pads have this type of silky-smooth surface; alternatively, an actual stocking could be stretched over the surface under your hand.) Position your hand in a style very similar to the hand shown on the screen. Slowly move your hand, rubbing it against the imitation-silk surface, in a manner similar (ie., same speed and direction) as the hand depicted on the screen. Do not look at your actual hand; stare at the hand caressing the lady's leg. After a while you should feel as if your own hand is the one moving upon the screen, "feeling" the smooth texture of nylon. In other words, your hand will seem disembodied. The effect is made stronger if the actual surface under your hand is rounded or curved in shape. This type of illusion works in about 50% of people who try it. |
